Another Birthday Card

I'm still playing around with the Copics.  I'm pretty much learning through You Tube and friends. I recently bought quite a few Loralie Stamps to practice with. I also used my water color pencils on the inside images. I've always used watercolor pencils but it wasn't until recently that I learned how to make the colors more vibrant with Gamsol.

Here's the Birthday Card for my cousin:

Quick Birthday Cards!!

I'm sorry I've not been posting as promised but I had a lot of things going on in my life.  Nothing major, just stressful stuff anyway I'm  going to show you two really quick cards I made.

This one I made for my new crafty friend Diane.  She had a Birthday crop at her home and I wanted to make her something special. I "borrowed" (love that word!!) the avatar from her blog and did a print and cut with my Cameo to make the background.  I added the name of her blog on the house.   I used a punch to make Mr. Sun. The grass around the mailbox is a green flower split in half. The butterflies and borders are  Martha Stewart punch cuts. The mailbox is an image from the Silhouette store that I altered and cut out. This was so much fun to make!!

This is the inside, stamped and colored by me!!!

This next card was really quick. I'm talking 30 minutess tops!!!              Here's what happened:
My husband walked in one night at 9:45 pm!!!   "Oh", he says, "I told the folks at work that I could probably get you to make a Birthday Card for Melody......tomorrow". WTH!!!   While I'm rolling my eyes at him, he goes on to explain that Melody is a really sweet lady that works very hard and  she doesn't have any family here, so they all decided to pitch in and get her a cake and that's when he volunteered my services!!! "Oh, I forgot, sorry", he says. I couldn't kill him since he funds my crafty habit, so off to the Silhouette store I went. I actually love how it turned out.

Front:
Here's the inside.  No coloring for me as this was a last minute thing.  Hmmmppff, he's lucky I put anything on the inside!!

Since they all work for Lockheed-Martin on the C-130, I threw this on the front inside of the card. This image is cut out of vinyl at 3.5 inches.  The C-130 is a little over 1/8 inch high. Love my Cameo!!!

You know, sometimes I just want to stab my husband for springing these last minute craft requests on me, but the look in his eyes when I finished this card made it all worth it. He was cheesing so big I thought he would pass out!!!  And his "thank you Plum" (ya,  that's what we call each other) was so endearing all my fury just flew right out of the window!

He reported that she loved it and said she was going to put it on her mantle at home and that no one had ever made her anything for her birthday.  That made me smile.

Sometimes I actually do somthing at crops, sometimes!!!

Everyone who knows me, I mean, really knows me, knows I don't do anything when I go to crops.  I pay my money to go socialize!!  (One day it will dawn on me that I can do that sh@! for free!!)

While I was not as productive as, well, anyone there, I did manage to make these 3 cards.  I must apologize for the delay. I have no excuse other than....I just didn't feel like posting them and they really weren't that great but here goes:

This one was my attempt at using Copics again (still haven't taken that class!!!) I sketched the image  with my Cameo and designed and cut out the Happy Birthday. The border is a punch from EK Success that I paid $3.99 for at T.J. Maxx back during the summer. (you know I love deals)

On this one I used some paper that I had sprayed with my $1.00 glimmer mists from the yard sale I went to earlier in the year.  It really glistens, but I couldn't get it to show up in the picture.

Okay, I was playing around with this stitch maker thingy that I've had for about a year and never used. I used it to make the border on the top and bottom. Then I practiced my quilling.  I love doing it. I just never seem to have the time. Please forgive my pitiful flowers.  I left my book at home and just had to go for it!!

Thanks for stopping by.  I told myself that I'm going to post a card(s) everyday this weak.

Let's just see what happens...bahahahahaha!!!

Don't Throw Out All The Junk Mail!!!

Hello peeps!!!

I literally had nothing to contribute this month to this blog post, until I was going through the mail at work and came across a piece of junk mail that sparked my interest.

The colors were so beautiful and it felt like a very smooth, heavy cardstock. I decided to keep it and see what I could come up with.

Here it is:

This is what it originally look like....junk mail!!!

Here's the back, isn't it pretty?

The Inside. I didn't use this for this project but I wanted to show it to you

So here's what I did. I cut out two squares, 1 @ 5" and 1 @ 5.25". I used a corner punch on the 5" one and glued it to the second one.

I cut the straws at 2.5" to make the candles and then I cut the "wicks' out of yellow cardstock and added red stickles for the flames.  Really simple.

I added some bling and adhered everything to a 5.25" white card base to finish.

I will forever be paying extra attention to the mail now!!☺

Thanks for looking!!!

Layered Card

This is my project this month  for the  She's A Sassy Lady design team. I altered a card that I purchased for the Silhouette store and gave it a layered look.

I used a basic scalloped card from the Silhouette store. Here are the cut sizes I used to make this card.

This is the folder I used for embossing the layers.  It's the Anna Griffin "Poppy" folder.
I added layers to give the card a more detailed look.

Be sure to leave at last 1/4 inch at the top of the two smaller layers for gluing.

Finish the card by adding your favorite sentiment and embellishments.  Really simple!

Thanks for looking!!!

"My Coachy Bag"

Hello peeps!!!  I hope everyone enjoyed the extended weekend and had fun celebrating the 4th of July.  It was a wash out here.  It rained the entire time so you know my sinuses were acting up. At any rate, I managed to do 1, yes, 1 crafty project in 4 days!!!  If you haven't done so, run over to SVGCUTS and get the free purse file. Submit your project by July 10th (I think, double check that) and receive a $6.99 store credit.  I want the credit so I can buy the entire collection of purse files.

This is "My Coachy Bag" (not tryna get sued!!!) It was fun to make. I think I will make another one tonight!  Try it and put your own spin on it!

My Crafty Retreat

Hello peeps!!!  Just wanted to share some pictures from my crafty retreat last week. It was at the Grand Oaks Retreat in Scotsboro, Al. We were there for 4 days!!!

I had so much fun that I'm still exhausted.  I hooked up with some old friends and met a lot of new ones.

This retreat can accommodate up to 20 scrappers, 24 crocheters and I believe she said about 20 quilters.  The owner is Cindy and she has thought of everything!! She has huge bathrooms in each room, with towels, shampoo, lotion and body wash.  Not the small hotel size, but large sizes.  She has earplugs , you know, just in case your roomies end up sounding like they are cranking up an old tractor!! The meals are included and for the most part palatable, although I will admit we had a few bloopers. Since the Retreat is located in Alabama, the south, I would have expected more of Southern Cuisine for breakfast, i.e, bacon, eggs, grits, toast, the stuff real southern women eat. It seems we got more desert for breakfast than anything.

Our group consisted of 11 so Lynne, our gracious host, gave the okay for another group to join us, since we had more room.  We got along great and I have the video to prove it but I've been threatened with bodily harm if I post it!!! I was told "What happens at the Retreat, stays at the Retreat!!" But I will say, I didn't know our Caucasian sisters could dance like that!!!☺☺☺

Okay picture time!!!

This is the view about 2 miles from the retreat

The Retreat is on top of dat thar mount'in!!!

Oh and here's a card the girls made for me at the Retreat.  They surprised me with it and they all signed it!!!  I love it!!!  You know I was crying right?
